The Oregon Plan of Debate

That same year, Professor J. Stanley Gray published a revolutionary format: the “Oregon Plan of Debate.” It introduced cross-examination and direct refutation — turning debates into dynamic, back-and-forth exchanges. For the next century, this became the dominant style of debate in the United States.
